How far away is death? Christmas tree fire

Christmas tree fire

An unwatered Christmas tree can turn deadly in minutes.

The National Fire Protection Association tells us, “A live Christmas tree burn shows just how quickly a dried-out Christmas tree burns, with flashover occurring in less than one minute, as compared to a well-watered tree, which burns at a much slower rate. Take care to water your Christmas tree, so that it doesn’t become a fire hazard.”

In the Christmas tree fire video below, you’ll witness a real-life burn, carried out by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
