The BBC article, “The dangerous art of the ultimate selfie,” doesn’t hold back on revealing the extent to which some go for a selfie. The guy in the above picture, Lee Thompson, scaled and snapped himself atop the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio in 2014. Of course, it went viral.

BBC reported that Thompson said, “People see pictures like mine and see how they spread across the world and see a way to make themselves famous for 15 minutes.”
